Summary description:
The client’s brief was to improve the visual connection to the rear garden, replan the kitchen and utility areas and improve natural daylight to the dining space and rear lounge.
The utility cupboards were relocated from the back of the house. The kitchen was moved towards the garden with a new “picture window” providing views out. Operable and fixed skylights puncture the new side return roof structure providing natural daylight to the dining room and rear lounge. The dining area was extended creating a comfortable place to sit by the new patio.
The project includes thermal improvement to the roof and floor. The extension facade has been cladded in pre-weathered anthra zinc in combination with dark aluminium-framed doors. The roof finish is natural slate. White render to the house was replaced with a dark through coloured render.
Internal finishes include a solid poured concrete floor, quartz worktops and laminated plywood units.
