Project type:
Project type Residential – loft development and replacement of Ground floor single storey side return, general refurbishment
Size:
Additional habitable area 13 m2
Location:
North London
Completion:
May 2017
Summary description:
The client’s brief was to open up and improve daylight into the ground floor of this 3 storey Victorian mid-terrace house. The client also required an additional bedroom/study and a new bathroom and utility room at first floor.
The kitchen and dining room were connected across the rear of the property by removing and replacing an existing side infill, which housed a utility room. The ground floor was opened up front to back, allowing for open plan living, and a small cloak room was added under the stairs.
A loft room has been added on top of the rear addition to provide a generous and well lit bedroom/study.
The project also includes thermal improvement such as under floor insulation and new double glazed windows.
The extensions have been clad in pre-weathered anthra zinc in combination with aluminium-framed windows and doors
The glazed doors to the kitchen/dining room slide into a pocket so the space in the small patio garden is not compromised.
Internal finishes include porcelain tiles, new and reclaimed oak flooring.
